Apple revealed this morning that the new iOS 12 will have a group FaceTime feature, answering the prayers of group chatters everywhere.
The feature, which seems inspired by the app Houseparty and the Snapchat group call feature, will accommodate up to 32 people and it will be incorporated into Messages, which means you'll be able to seamlessly transition between your group chat and a group FaceTime.
The feature could change the game for those dreaded times when you and your chat can't for the life of you nail down a plan for brunch, the pregame, etc. Now, you'll be able to shout over each other via FaceTime instead of just texting over each other. Sounds great! Doesn't seem miserable at all!
Once you're FaceTiming with a group, participant's faces will appear as tiles, and then whoever is speaking or engaging in the chat at any given time, their tile will get larger as they speak. Users can click on one person's tile to make them larger, also. And there will be filters!
Now go forth and group video chat to your heart's content.
